Bulls beat Cheetahs in Pretoria




The final Super Rugby match match on Saturday in Round 6 is in Pretoria where the Bulls will host the Cheetahs at Loftus Versfeld.

The teams are on the field. The Bulls will be wearing pink for breast cancer.

The Cheetahs kick off and we are underway.

2.00: The Cheetahs win the ball back from the kick off as the Bulls kick it away. The Cheetahs run hard at the Bulls and win a penalty. They will kick for posts.

3.00: Niel Marais nails the penalty and the Cheetahs lead.

6.00: Penalty to the Bulls. Tian Schoeman takes the shot and nails it. The scores are level.

10.00: The Cheetahs win a line out in the Bulls half. They use the maul. The Cheetahs lose the ball and its a scrap for the ball.

11.00: Both teams have to scramble on attack and defence and the ball gets to the Cheetahs line and then goes into touch. Paul Schoeman illegally stops the try but is shown a yellow card.

13.00: The Bulls work the ball to the tryline but the Cheetahs hold them out through 7 phases. On the 8th phase RG Snyman reaches for the line and dots the ball on the line. TRY!

14.00; Schoeman takes the conversion kick and nails it.

16.00: The Cheetahs work the ball down to the Bulls 22 but the Bulls clear the ball into touch.

18.00: The Bulls gradually work the ball to the Cheetahs 5m line. They win the line out and use the maul. It disintegrates but the Bulls win a penalty for going off the feet. Schoeman kicks for touch and the line out.

21.00: The Bulls win the line out and and they keep it in the forwards and score. TRY! Jason Jenkins. Schoeman comes back on for the Cheetahs. Boom Prinsloo is helped from the fied.

22.00: Schoeman slots the conversion.

26.00: The Bulls scrum smashes the Cheetahs scrum which wins them a penalty. T.Schoeman kicks for touch.

28.00: The Bulls go through the phases on attack in the Cheetahs half. The Cheetahs turn the ball over but before they can do anything they are awarded a penalty for not releasing.  They kick for touch.

30.00: The Cheetahs win the scrum and use the maul. When it slows they give the ball to the backs. The Cheetahs get the ball to the Bulls line. They go through the phases and then go wide. Sergeal Petersen snipes and dives for the corner and scores. TRY ! The TMO confirms.

31.00: Marais takes the conversion kick from outwide – he nails it.

34.00: The Bulls attack and they get to the edge of the tryline. They are initially short but Jamba Ulengo grabs the ball and goes for the try and scores. TRY!

35.00: T. Schoeman takes the conversion kick but misses. Francois Venter of the Cheetahs comes off with what looks like a broken nose.

40.00: Penalty to the Cheetahs from the scrum. A fight breaks out and several punches are thrown. It dies down but the TMO is called in. Nothing comes of it really.

The Bulls kick off and the second half is underway.

43.00: The Cheetahs press the Bulls back into their 22 but as they get there the are awarded a penalty.

45.00: Marais takes the kick and nails it.

47.00: The Cheetahs win a penalty from the scrum. The Cheetahs players are thrilled as a result. They kick for touch.

49.00: The Cheetahs kick sets up a line out inside the Bulls 22.

50.00: The Cheetahs use the maul, it wheels a little but they keep it going and Torsten van Jaarsveld scores. TRY!

51.00: Marais takes the conversion kick but he misses.

53.00: The scrum collapses and has to be reset.

55.00: Penalty for the Bulls. They kick for touch and the line out. The Bulls win the line out but its slow ball. They get the ball outwide and then win a penalty for not releasing.

57.00: Schoeman kicks for posts. He slots it straight through the middle.

59.00: The Cheetahs attack and look dangerous but Marais puts in a big pass and Ulengo intercepts and runs away. The Cheetahs catch him and the ball changes side a couple of times and goes dead.

61.00: Cheetahs concede a penalty. The Bulls find touch on the half way line.

65.00: Another penalty to the Bulls – Cheetahs offside. T.Schoeman takes the kick but misses.

The Cheetahs win a scrum and attack. They get the ball into the Bulls 22. They change sides and look likely to score but Schoeman’s pass goes into touch. They are called back for a penalty – offside.

69.00: Marais takes the kick and this one he misses too.

71.00: The make a mess of the 22 restart which hands the ball back to the Bulls.

75.00: It’s an armwrestle as both teams try to outmuscle each other. Neither team can take full control.

76.00: Penalty to the Cheetahs from the scrum. It’s on the Cheetahs 22m line so they have to kick for touch.

78.00: The Cheetahs line out is not straight. The Bulls choose the line out as they don’t want to concede another penalty from the scrum. The Bulls use the line out to set up a maul. They win a penalty for lieing on the ball.

79.00: Francois Brummer will take the penalty kick – he misses. The siren sounds.
