The Bulls have played the Jaguares five times in Super Rugby since the South American side joined the tournament in 2016.

- All five previous Super Rugby games between the Bulls and Jaguares have been won by the home side on the day.
- A victory for the Bulls would tie up the head to head record with three wins apiece.
- The Bulls lost their last home game in Super Rugby against the Chiefs, they’ve not lost back to back home games though since 2017.
- The Jaguares have lost their last five away games on the bounce, conceding 40+ points on three occasions in that span; they had won four on the trot away from home prior to that run.
- Pote Human’s side has conceded just one try within the opening quarter of games this Super Rugby season, fewer than any other team in the competition.
- Bulls’ backrower Duane Vermeulen has 11 turnovers to his name this season, two more than any other player in Super Rugby.
Match detail
We are waiting for the kickoff.
In the meantime why not have a look at the match preview.
1.00: PEEEEP! We are underway at a sunny Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria. Weather conditions are perfect on the Highveld, so expect the two teams to rack up the points. Manie Libbok, playing at flyhalf for the first time this season and in for the rested Handré Pollard, kicks off.
3.00: Divan Rossouw’s raking kick gives the Bulls a good opportunity with a lineout inside the Jaguares’ 22. They drive, but nothing comes from the maul, although, they do win a penalty for offside.
4.00: MISS! A poor start for Libbok as he shanks an easy attempt wide. The Jaguares botch the drop-out, gifting the Bulls a centre-field scrum on their 22. The scrum is reset.
6.00: Referee Brendon Pickerill has had enough. After two reset scrums, he penalises Mayco Vivas for collapsing.
7.00: PENALTY! Libbok is, this time, makes no mistake as he gives his side the lead. 3-0
10.00: The Bulls win their lineout and exit through Embrose Papier’s clearance to the halfway line. It’s a very tactical opening to the game by both teams.
11.00: Vivas, after giving away a penalty earlier, knocks on a simple pass. Scrum to the Bulls on the Jaguares’ 10-metre line.
13.00: Emiliano Boffelli cleans up a Rossouw kick, but the next phase Tomas Cubelli has his box-kick charged down. The home team win possession and they have another good opportunity inside the opposition’s 22 with a centre-field scrum.
15.00: Santiago Medrano is penalised for not using his arms in the tackle. The Bulls went seven phases before the referee brings back the play for the foul. Libbok calls for the tee.
16.00: PENALTY! Libbok doubles his side’s lead. 6-0
18.00: The Jaguares have a lineout at halfway after the Bulls clear from the restart. The South Americans need to cut out their ill-discipline and handling errors if they want to win this match.
19.00: Another pinpoint kick from fullback Rossouw puts the visitors on the back foot.
20.00: A penalty goes the way of the visitors after obstruction by Corniel Els and Dylan Sage stops an attack. Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias clears to the opposition’s 22.
21.00: Ramiro Moyano is double-tackled into touch by Sage and Jade Stighling. The Bulls draw another penalty, this time from a solid driving maul. Libbok clears the danger with his left foot.
23.00: Tomas Lezana plays Papier without the ball at the breakdown; they’ve conceded five penalties, already. Libbok will take a shot from 44 metres out but in front.
24.00: PENALTY! The South African u20 international splits the uprights. 9-0
26.00: The Bulls win a turnover, but Hanro Liebenberg’s knock on gives away possession. Ruan Steenkamp is penalised for not releasing. Gonzalez Iglesias clears to the Bulls’ half.
27.00: TRY! Pablo Matera breaks Steenkamp’s tackle and races away to score next to the posts. It was so simple, from the lineout. 9-5
28.00: CONVERSION! Gonzalez Iglesias adds the extras. 9-7
30.00: Jannes Kirsten bursts through some slack tackling. The Bulls are up to the 22. The home team’s ball is slow from the rucks. Sage attacks the gain line, however, the ball is turned over by Matias Moroni. The visitors clear the danger.
31.00: The Jaguares’ three quarters are so good at winning turnovers. Eli Snyman leaves the field with a shoulder injury
32.00: The Bulls rumble forward using pick-and-drives. Their attack ends after 12 phases but the referee was playing advantage because of Marcos Kremer’s ‘grass-cutter’. Libbok puts the ball out near the corner.
34.00: Another penalty goes against the Jaguares for offsides. They did well to sack the maul legally, but they keep undoing their good work with ill-discipline. Bulls opt for another lineout.
35.00: Brilliant defence from the Argentines. They hold up the Bulls, who are employing old school South African tactics: bash the line with big ball carriers.
36.00: The scrum is reset, but it looked like the Bulls should have had a penalty for collapsing on the tighthead side. They do get a penalty, this time. Vivas the guilty of collapsing the scrum.
37.00: Duane Vermeulen opts for another scrum, which is yet again reset. Jesus!
38.00: Burger Odendaal goes crash-ball and is tackled short. The ball is recycled but Libbok drops the ball over the try line. Both flyhalves are down after taking a hit.
39.00: The Bulls have had more than 70% territory and 60% possession yet only lead by two. Medrano slips in the scrum, but the ref swiftly pinged the Bulls for collapsing. It’s a bit harsh, but what can the ref do?
41.00: The Bulls will have one last shot after they hold up the Jaguares’ maul. Another reset. Vivas has been substituted for Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro because he was having a torrid time in the set-piece.
42.00: Yet another reset scrum. The ref wants the front rows to get the balance, right. Medrano is pinged for an early engagement.
43.00: The Bulls take the free-kick quickly but lose the ball. Gonzalez Iglesias clears into the stands. Halftime.
The halftime score was Bulls 9 Jaguares 7
41.00: PEEEEP! we are back underway for this scrum-fest in Pretoria.
42.00: Ramiro Moyano is off. Boffelli moves to left wing and Joaquin Tuculet goes to fullback. Rossouw chases his kick but Boffelli gets back to save the day, winning a penalty at the breakdown.

53.00: PENALTY! Libbok restores his side’s seven-point advantage. 17-10
55.00: Gonzalez Iglesias loses the ball in contact, but it was an early tackle that the ref did not call. It’s the first scrum since Tetaz Chaparro’s yellow card, so the Jaguares have to make a switch, bringing on a prop for a flank.
56.00: The Bulls win the scrum-penalty, but Papier goes quickly. instead of kicking for touch. However, the ball is kicked away into touch. It allows the visitors to run down the clock and get back to 15 men.
57.00: The whole front row is replaced by the Jaguares. The yellow card did not cost any points as the teams tied 3-all during the 10 minutes.
59.00: The Bulls have an attacking lineout outside the Jaguares’ 22. They have gone back to their pick-and-drives instead of playing the wide channels.
