Force hooker Brendan Cannon has been cleared from any grievous injury and was released from Christchurch Public Hospital on Sunday morning.

Cannon was admitted the night before after being stretchered from the ground following a scrum collapse in the 68th minute of the game against the Crusaders.

The Wallaby suffered numbness and weakness in his left arm but tests have confirmed no new injury. He is expected to return to Perth this week and discuss further treatment with his specialist.

Cannon suffered a similar injury last year also, against the Crusaders, when he suffered a severe compression of two vertebrae in his neck, with bone chipping off, lodging in a nerve canal and affecting his left side.

Cannon, at age 34, may struggle to shake off such an aggravated injury.
