One of New Zealand’s most popular rock bands, Elemeno P, will warm up the crowd for the Highlanders’ homecoming match in the Rebel Sport Super 14 at Carisbrook on February 24.
Highlanders commercial and marketing manager Chris Green said today the match had all the ingredients of a memorable occasion. It would be the first home game for the Highlanders this year, it would mark their return from South Africa, it comes in university orientation week, and the rugby would be preceded for an hour by the group voted New Zealand’s best band at the New Zealand Music Awards last year.
It will be the first time Elemeno P will have played at Carisbrook. “We’ve heard a lot about the ground and the atmosphere it generates ” it’s a gig we’re really looking forward to,” singer/songwriter Dave Gibson said.
Elemeno P will play for an hour from 4.15pm. The match kicks off at 5.35pm.
“From the feedback we’ve had,” Green said, people like the big bands and you can’t get bigger than this in New Zealand. People are getting two events in one a concert and a game all for as little as $20.”
Tickets are available now and Green said a capacity Terrace crowd is expected.
