Just about the only plus for the Cheetahs in their warm-up rugby match against Eastern Province at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, was the performance of young flyhalf Sias Ebersohn.

Twin brother of the Sevens Springbok Robert, he looked like a possible solution in a position left rather bare with the departure of Jacques-Louis Potgieter for the Bulls and the recall by the Sharks of their loan player to the Cheetahs, Monty Dumond.

Throwing themselves into their defence as if their lives depended on it, home side Eastern Province held the Super 14 franchise to a 13-9 win.

The Cheetahs will not be happy with this run a mere two weeks before the face 2009 Super 14 champions Bulls in Bloemfontein.
