Cheetahs beat Southern Kings in Bloemfontein




The first of two matches on South African soil this weekend is in Bloemfontein where the Cheetahs host the Southern Kings.

The Cheetahs kick off and the match is underway.

2.00: The Kings get some early attacking ball as they run down the sideline. The ball is passed down the line but it goes to ground and into touch.

4.00: The Cheetahs win a scrum in their half and they boot the ball upfield. The Kings counter attack but there is a high tackle.

5.00: The Kings kick for touch and the line out. The Kings win the line out but knock on.

8.00: The Cheetahs attack on the wing as Raymond Rhule races down the touchline. He is caught and the Cheetahs keep the ball moving. Clayton Blommetjies offloads the ball but it goes forward.

11.00: The Kings break out down the wing. Luzuko Vulindlu gets them half way down the field but he is caught.

14.00: Penalty to the Kings. Elgar Watts takes the kick and nails it. The Southern Kings lead.

17.00: The Cheetahs work the ball from side to side gradually making ground. They go wide with a high long ball but its too high and goes to ground. The Cheetahs are called back for a penalty. The TMO is called in to review some foul play. Penalty to Cheetahs.

18.00: Fred Zeilinga takes the kick and levels the scores.

20.00: The Cheetahs get the ball from a Kings pass. Zeilinga almost gets away but he offloads to his support and after some recycling Raymond Rhule goes for the line and scores. the TMO will check. No try due to a forward pass.

23.00: The Cheetahs steal the ball at a line out and Raymond Rhule runs in an easy try.

24.00: Zeilinga adds the conversion.

26.00: The Cheetahs look certain to score as Oupa Mohojeruns down the touchline. He passes over the top to Pietersen but the ball goes to ground.

27.00: The Cheetahs win a scrum. The ball bounces out and Uzair Cassiem pounces on the ball and gets driven over the line and scores. TRY!

28.00: Zeilinga adds the conversion.

30.00: Penalty to the Southern Kings. Elgar Watts takes the shot and nails it.

35.00: JC Astle goes on the attack for the Kings but loses possession.

38.00: The Cheetahs win a line out and attack. They lose the ball forward and the Kings are allowed to play it for one phase and then get called back.

40.00: The siren sounds. The Kings have the ball and they kick it into touch.

The Kings kick off and the second half is underway.

43.00: Both teams tussle for the ball in the centrefield. The Kings come away with it and then goes out.

44.00: The Cheetahs take a quick line out and Sergeal Pietersen races down the wing and passes to Michael van der Spuy who scores. TRY!

45.00: Zeilinga adds the conversion.

48.00; Penalty to the Cheetahs. Zeilinga takes the kick and nails it.

49.00: JP du Plessis gets the ball near the Cheetahs 22m line. He races for the line pushing off a couple of weak Cheetahs tackles and scores. TRY!

50.00:Watts adds the conversion.

55.00: The Cheetahs stretch the Kings on defence and they get the ball to Sergeal Pietersen who races for the line with an open tryline ahead. He races away and scores. He may have injured himself in scoring the try. The TMO will check.

56.00: Zeilinga adds the conversion. Pietersen is off.

59.00: The Kings almost get away to score but they are called back for a knock on after an extended period of play from the Cheetahs.

63.00: The Kings are on a warning for scrumming. The Cheetahs win a scrum and run the ball in the Kings 22.  Cassiem passes the ball wide but it goes into touch.

67.00: The Kings get the ball into the Cheetahs 22 but Ntando Kebe is just stopped in time by Lood de Jager who saves a try. De Jager is replaced by  Armand Koster who comes on to make his debut.

68.00: The Kings work the ball to the Cheetahs tryline. They have the advantage but can’t get over. They get called back for the penalty and kick for touch and the 5m line out.

71.00; The Kings stike in the corner and Lukhanyo Am goes over and scores. TRY!

72.00: Watts sneaks over the conversion.

76.00:The Kings are finishing strongly as they have the ball on the Cheetahs 5m line. The whistle goes. A double whistle. Paul Schoeman is yellow carded.

78.00: The Kings send wave after wave of attack at the Cheetahs but they keep them out.

79.00: The handbags come out as a couple of players push and shove a bit.

80.00: The siren sounds for full time. The Cheetahs have the ball and want the extra try.

81.00: The Kings turn the ball over and they attack until the whistle goes. The Cheetahs get a penalty and kick for touch and the line out.

82.00: The Cheetahs win the line out but they knock on.

Thats it the Cheetahs have won.
