The Highlanders will not have home advantage in this match but they will be hoping that they have a stamina advantage as the Chiefs had to make the long trip back from South Africa this week.

We are waiting for the kick off. The Highlanders kick off and we are underway.

 

1.00: The Highlanders show an early intent to move the ball around. Passing is a little too slick though as the ball goes out from a pass.

 

3.00: The Chiefs getting some more ball and pushing the Highlanders back in their half. No real flow in the game yet.

 

5.00: Penalty to the Highlanders for an early tackle without the ball. Robbie Robinson will kick for posts.

 

6.00: Robinson takes the kick but misses.

 

9.00: Lima Sopoaga brushes off a tackle and makes ground, he then passes a long pass to Jason Rutledge who races away to score the first TRY.

 

10.00: Robbie Robinson adds the conversion.

 

14.00:Penalty to the Chiefs. Stephen Donald takes the kick but misses.

 

17.00:The Highlanders concede another penalty so Stephen Donald gets another shot at goal. This one he nails.

 

20.00:The Chiefs (Masaga) attack with pace and the Highlanders stop him but Nasi Manu goes off his feet and concedes a penalty. Donald takes the shot and nails it.

 

25.00: The Chiefs concede a penalty and choose the line out. They win the line out and attack. Sopoaga finds his way through and get caught. The Highlanders continue the attack until the ball goes out.

 

29.00: Another penalty to the Highlanders. Cowan takes it quickly but nothing comes of it.

 

35.00: Penalty to the Highlanders after a spell with little flow. Robbie Robinson takes the kick and hits the cross bar. No score change.

 

38.00: A short break in the game for blood (Adam Thomson) hold up the game.

 

40.00: The siren goes for half time. It is half time.

The Highlanders lost Adam Thomson at half time as well as a few others.

 

43.00: Very strong start from the Chiefs. They threaten the Highlanders from the start and after several waves of attack Brendon Leonard scores. TRY.

 

44.00: Stephen Donald adds the conversion.

 

46.00: The Chiefs have really stepped up this half. Masaga has a run down the wing and comes close but loses his footing. We have just seen Thomson down on the bench. He looks like he is in pain anbd very stiff – could be out for a while.

 

48.00: The game is held up as Scott Waldrom is down. He comes off and is replaced by Tanerau Latimer.

 

51.00: The Highlanders work the ball up to the Chiefs tryline. Cowan comes close and they go again but the Chiefs steal the ball and kick it out to safety.

 

56.00: Penalty to the Chiefs. Stephen Donald takes the kick and misses.

 

58.00: Chiefs put the Highlanders under plenty of pressure in their 25. Donald’s pass is poor and it goes to ground.

 

62.00: Chiefs keeping the Highlanders under pressure but the finishing lets them down.

 

64.00: Penalty to the Chiefs. Stephen Donald is struggling with a limp so Dwayne Sweeney will kick.

 

66.00: Sweeney takes the kick but misses.

 

72.00: Chiefs bringing on their reserves now and the Highlanders are pressing at the Chiefs line.

 

76.00: The Highlanders are trying to get the ball but their handling has just been a little off and they keep forcing mistakes.

 

77.00: The game is held up by an injury to Siale Piutau.

 

79.00: The Chiefs look to end on a high as they press hard at the Highlanders line. Liam Messam takes a gap and scores. TRY.

 

80.00: Sweeney takes the conversion and nails it.
