Chiefs coach Ian Foster applies for All Black job

on

Chiefs rugby coach Ian Foster on Sunday announced his application for the All Blacks coaching job through a Waikato Rugby Union media release which confirmed Foster had put himself in contention.

Applications for the job close at 5pm on Monday but Crusaders coach Robbie Deans is regarded as the favourite to win the role if Henry and Co are not re-appointed after Deans announced that he wanted the job and ruled himself out of the running for the Wallaby job.

Hurricanes coach Colin Cooper also said that he was running for the job yesterday joining the current trio of All Blacks coaches who have been asked to re-apply.

At this point it is not known for certain whether Henry , Hansen or Smith have re-applied.

It is unlikley that Foster or Cooper would get the job ahead of Deans but they stand a good chance of being appointed assistant coach.

The current All Black coaches oversaw one of the best periods of All Black rugby but also oversaw New Zealand’s worst World Cup campaign.
