Chiefs lock Michael Allardice will miss the rest of the Super Rugby season after he was injured in the Chiefs match against Wales.
Twenty-four-year-old Allardice suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee during the Chiefs 40-7 victory over Wales in Hamilton.
Allardice has been forced to undergo an operation for the injury and this is expected to keep him on the sidelines for around three to four months.
The lock made his Super Rugby debut for the Chiefs last year and has played seven matches for the Hamilton side.
In 2015 Allardice’s Super Rugby season was also cut short as he ruptured medial ligament in his left knee.
The Chiefs return to Super Rugby next week when they take on the Crusaders in Suva, Fiji on July 1.
