Chiefs rule out Robinson, Lauaki

The Chiefs, already struggling with a list of crippling injuries, have confirmed that forwards Keith Robinson and Sione Lauaki will also not be available for their Round Three Super 14 encounter with Stormers in Cape Town on Friday.

The All Blacks pair, who both suffered injuries before the competition began, will be targeted to play in the second tour match against the Bulls in Pretoria next week.

Robinson hurt his calf in pre-season training, while Lauaki broke his wrist in the trial match against the Blues nearly three weeks ago.

Assistant coach Warren Gatland told The Waikato Times it was important to take a safety-first approach.

The team is enduring an horrendous run of injuries.

Fullback Sosene Anesi (broken neck), centre Richard Kahui (bruised shoulder) and captain Jono Gibbes (calf tear) have all missed the tour.
