Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has selected Chiliboy Ralepelle in place of Derick Ku’n at hooker in the only change to the Bulls starting team to play the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Ludeke made it clear this was part of the rotation policy and that Ku’n was not injured or dropped because of form.

Ku’n was injured last week in a head-high tackle for which Blues winger Rene Ranger has been suspended, but returned later in the match and is fit to play this weekend.

In the only other change to last weekend’s winning match against the Blues, prop Rayno Gerber comes onto the bench in place of young Frik Kirsten, who plays for the Vodacom Cup side against the Border Bulldogs this weekend.

“In order to do well in the Super 14 you need two first-rate players in each position and I think the match against the Lions is a great opportunity for Chiliboy to show his worth.” said Ludeke.

Ludeke added that Gerber is one of the most reliable players in the squad and that it is great to have him back.

“We have waited for Rayno and his experience will be worth a lot against the Lions.

“He is one of those players who you need when things get rough hence we are very glad that he is fit and ready to play.”
