The debate over where Matt Giteau’s playing career continues as his opposite number Sam Cordingley says that Giteau needs more game time playing at No.9 if he wants to be a World Class No.9.

Cordingley says that Giteau has the talent to succeed in the position after a successful four-game stint there for the Wallabies but he says that he needs more time in the position.

“Obviously he’s a prodigious talent. I don’t think it would matter where you put him in the backline, he’d be a success,” said Cordingley. “But one of the big things with halfback is you need consistency at that level.

“You see No.9s develop throughout their career as a consequence of playing games and I think he’ll definitely need to be playing there in the Super 14 pretty consistently if he wants to be a world class halfback for the World Cup,” he said.
