Who would have thought that with the Blues topping the table in Round 3 that in Rd. 11 they would be almost out of contention for a Semi. While they are still in with a shout they need to win this weekend to stay in the hunt for a play off place.

0.00: We are waiting for the kick off.


After a minute’s silence for ANZAC day the match gets underway.


1.00: The Crusaders go immediately on the attack and work the ball up into the Blues 22.


12.00: Richie McCaw was the first to score points in the first match of the weekend as he dived under the posts scoring a try.


12.00: Stephen Brett converted the try.


16.00: Nasi Manu comes on for Mose Tuialii who limps off.


25.00: Corey Flynn gets a relatively soft try for the Crusaders. Brett misses the conversion.


27.00 The Blues swing it wide & Rudi Wulf scores the Blues first try. Nick Evans converts the try.


33.00: Corey Flynn gives away a silly penalty for tackling synical play. Nick Evans clears.


34.00: The Crusaders stretch the Blues defence but they come up just short. They go again and the Blues give another penalty away. Again they go but the ball goes forward.


36.00: Nasi Manu gives away a penalty. Evans clears.


38.00: The Crusaders give another penalty away this time on the half way line so they opt for the scrum as the Blues scrum is dominating.


39.00: Isa Nacewa twice kicks the ball up wasting precious ball.


40.03: The siren goes for half time.

The second half is underway.


42.00: The Blues come out firing and Nick Williams looks to have scored a try. Referee Lyndon Bray goes upstairs and the try is confirmed.


42.00: Nick Evans converts the try.


44.00: The Crusaders fire straight back as they normally do and spread the Blues wide and run it from their own 22 as Corey Flynn scores his second try, this time under the posts.


The Crusaders are now in the hunt for the bonus point try.


45.00: Brett converts the try.


51.00: The Crusaders are awarded a penalty so Stephen Brett has a shot at goal but the ball just hits the post and bounces out.


53.00: The Blues give away a penalty for taking a player out in the air while in the line out so Stephen Brett has another shot at goal from well out but the ball just drifts wide.


63.00: Corey Flynn who had been given a warning earlier is sent to the bin for a synical tackle. Nick Evans slots the resulting penalty.


65.00: Crusader Bateman puts in a clever kick and although Maitland does get a foot in touch he is ruled to be in and the ball gets passed to Tii Paulo who scores the bonus point try.


66.00: Stephen Brett converts the try.


67.00: Troy Flavell powers over the line to score a try BUT his hip just touches the line and he is out.


68.00: David Smith injects some pace and passes to Anthony Tuitavake who has a great run at the line but the Crusaders defence JUST stops him in time at the line. A scrum is awarded.


72.00: Flynn comes back on.


74.00: David Smith fires down the line and scores in the corner. Under the new rules he is awarded a try (his foot touched the flag).


75.00: Nick Evans misses the conversion.


80.06: The siren goes for full time.


81.00: The Blues keep the ball alive and run it in from +/- 43 minutes out but there is a turnover and the ball gets booted out.


The final score is Crusaders 26 Blues 22
