Crusaders beat Sharks in Durban

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Durban based Sharks and
the Christchurch based Crusaders the Christchurch side have won three.

We are waiting for the kick off.

Patrick Lambie kicks off and we are underway. 

2.00; The Crusaders immediately test the Sharks defence with a mix of kicking an running. The Crusaders pass the ball back and a couple are missed but they keep the ball alive and Andy Ellis gets into space and races for the line to score – TRY! 

3.00: Colin Slade adds the conversion. 

4.00: The Crusaders kick behind the Sharks. The Crusaders chase up and they pass the ball to Israel Dagg who slips through some shoddy defence and scores. TRY! 

5.00: Slade adds the conversion. 

8.00: The Sharks get a chance for some points with a penalty. Lambie takes the kick but misses. Probably karma as the penalty came from a dubious knock on. 

10.00: The Sharks win a penalty from the line out. They kick for touch. The Crusaders win the ball and kick well downfield. 

12.00: Penalty to the Sharks again. Lambie kicks for touch, doesn’t find it so the Crusaders kick back. SP Marais runs it back but is stopped on the half way line. 

13.00: Penalty again to the Sharks. Lambie kicks for touch. 

15.00; The Sharks win the line out, set the maul and then go wide but Mvovo is shoved into touch. The Crusaders lose the ball in the line out. 

16.00: The Sharks win the scrum and run towards the posts. Referee Berry awards another penalty to the Sharks in front. 

17.00: Lambie takes the kick and nails it. Sharks are on the board.

19.00: The Sharks get pinned back in their 22. The Crusaders have a scrum on the 5m line.  

21.00: After a couple of resets, the Crusaders win the scrum and they suck in a couple of defenders and then go wide to Kieran Fonotia who goes over for the Crusaders third TRY! 

22.00: Slade adds the conversion. 

24.00: Crusaders win the ball from a line out, they run but then lose the ball. The Sharks turn the ball over before the Crusaders turn it over again. Nadolo almost gets past Ndungane 3m out but the ball is knocked into touch. 

25.00: The Crusaders concede a penalty at the scrum for losing their bind. Lambie kicks for touch.

26.00: The Crusaders show a burst of pace again and almost get through but then they run into their own player. Sharks scrum. 

28.00: Israel Dagg has a break but then passes to his support and the ball is missed and goes forward. 

29.00: Free kick to the Sharks even though it appeared their front row collapsed. Lambie kicks for touch. The Crusaders come away with the ball from the line out and attack. 

30.00: Andy Ellis gets into space and passes to David Havili but the pass is judged to have been forward. None of Referee Berry’s decisions are going the Sharks way. 

31.00: Lambie tries to clear the ball but it is charged down. The Crusaders get the ball to Nadolo who runs for the line and is shoved into touch. 

33.00: The Crusaders win a line out and use the maul to drive over the line. They go wide and Ryan Crotty scores. TRY! Bonus point. 

35.00: Slade adds the converison. 

36.00: Referee Stuart Berry calls for a TMO replay for a shoulder charge by Nepo Laulala on SP Marais. He is yellow carded. Marais remains down until Laulala goes off. He carries on. Sharks kick for touch. 

38.00: Penalty to the Sharks. But wait the touchie comes in to report another bit of foul play. Kieran Fonotia connects with Jean Deysel – also Codie Taylor tackles Ndungane late. Fonotia is yellow carded for the tackle. Lambie kicks for touch with the penalty. 

39.00: The Sharks win a line out and Cobus Reinach races for the line. He is caught and the Sharks recycle. But wait. Referee Stuart Berry yellow cards Nemani Nadolo for kicking the ball away. Crusaders down to 12. 

40.00: The Sharks choose a scrum for the penalty. It has to be reset. The Sharks win the scrum and then another penalty. A fight breaks out. 

41.00: The TMO is called in and it shows Jean Deysel kneeing a Crusaders player in the head. Deysel was red carded against the Crusaders last year and is red carded again. Slade kicks for touch. 

The half time score was Sharks 3 Crusaders 28

The Crusaders kick off and we are underway. 

41.00: The Sharks get the first penalty so they take the quick tap but get caught and knock on.  

43.00: Colin Slade chips the ball behind the Sharks and chases, gathers and scores. TRY! 12 players and the Crusaders are still scoring. Outstanding. 

44.00: Slade converts his try. 

45.00: Nepo Laulala is back on so the Crusaders have 13 players on the field. 

46.00: The Crusaders continue to split the Sharks defence and this time its David Havili who slips through and scores. TRY! Crusaders are still a man down.

47.00: Slade misses the conversion. 

49.00: Crusaders back to 15. While they had players in the bin they conceded no points. 

50.00: Penalty to the Crusaders. They take the quick tap and run the ball. 

51.00: Richie McCaw comes on and Kieran Read goes off. The Crusaders slip through the line out and Matt Todd races for the line and scores. Some of the Sharks fans are leaving. 

52.00: Slade takes the conversion but misses. 

54.00: The Sharks manage to find a way through as Ndungane goes over to score. We go to the TMO to check if there was a forward pass. The TMO rules the pass was not forward although the lines on the field indicate it was. The try is awarded. 

55.00: Zeilinga adds the conversion. 

61.00: The Crusaders get the ball deep in their own territory and they run the ball up to 2m out. Crusaders get a 5m line out. 

62.00: Crusaders win the line out and use the maul. They go wide to the backs and then come back but lose the ball forward. 

65.00: Crusaders still on the attack. Dagg kicks across the field but the ball goes out. 

68.00: The Sharks get the ball down into Crusaders territory. They lose the ball forward in the line out and Tom Taylor chips the ball upfield. 

72.00: Nafi Tuitavake almost gets through but gets wrapped up in the Sharks defence. They kick the ball deep into Crusaders territory. 

76.00: The Sharks apply some pressure but the Crusaders turn the ball over and kick for touch. 

79.00: The Crusaders split the Sharks and Tom Taylor races down the field to score under the posts. TRY! 

80.00: Taylor adds the conversion and that is it. 

The Crusaders have won.
