Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says he is expecting kick-fest style Super Rugby matches when they tour South Africa this week.

The Crusaders start their tour of South Africa in Durban against the Sharks before flying to Johannesburg to face the Lions.

The Crusaders head to South Africa in a positive mood as they beat the Kings 57-24 in Christchurch and Blackadder says that kind of match was probably the perfect preparation.

The Kings used their forward power on Saturday and two of their tries came from forwards Edgar Marutlulle and Chris Cloete and Blackadder is expecting a lot of rolling mauls.

“Quite often you go to South Africa and you are playing that style against the very best teams, they will be just more efficient and better at it,” Blackadder said.

“It’s a really good prelude to the next two weeks. They will be kick-fests.”

“They will kick to the corner and drive the hell out of you,” he told Stuff.

Having rotated some of his squad for the Kings match Blackadder is expected to bring out his strongest team to face the Sharks with the likes of No 8 Kieran Read, hooker Codie Taylor, loose head prop Joe Moody and halfback Andy Ellis could all start.
