Match Detail

0.00: We are waiting for the kick off.

The match is underway.

4.00: The Crusaders waste no time in getting their attack going and immediately show that this second string team will be no pushover.

8.00: The Crusaders really show how good they are swinging the ball around and Kade Poki scores the first try of the match. Chris Latham missed the tackle on Poki and injured his shoulder in doing so.

9.00: Stephen Brett’s conversion just shaved the posts and missed.

11.00: Latham has a shocker spell dropping the ball twice and then signals the bench he needs to go off.

12.00: Totally against the play James Horwill  breaks and scores a try for the Reds.

13.00: Clinton Schifcofske slots the conversion and the Reds lead.

19.00: The Reds beat the Crusaders at their own game and swing the ball through their players and Peter Hynes runs in a great team try under the posts.

19.00: Clinton Schifcofske converts the try. Word from the Reds bench is that Latham has a “corked”shoulder”.

22.00: The Reds give away a penalty for an illegal tackle so Stephen Brett takes a shot at goal and slots it.

30.00: The Crusaders keep up the pressure and appear to set up camp in the Reds half but their defence holds strong.

33.00: The Reds try to run the ball out of their 22 after a scrum but it comes to nothing.

34.00: The Crusaders do themselves no favours as they lose opportunities with handling errors.

36.00: The Reds enjoy a great passage of play and work the ball up to the Crusaders tryline but the visitors turn it over.

40.00: The Siren goes.

The Half time Score is Reds 14 Crusaders 8

The Second half is underway.

44.00: The Crusaders go on attack but as the Reds defence is holding strong Stephen Brett goes for a field goal and misses.

49.00: Another good spell sees the Reds on attack and they work the ball up to within two metres of the line but the Crusaders holds strong until Quade Cooper looks to have run the ball the wrong way ignoring his support but goes through to score the Reds third try.

The Reds are now in the hunt for a bonus point try.

50.00: Clinton Schifcofske converts the try.

54.00: The Crusaders sense an upset and bring on Andrew Ellis and Dan Carter.

61.00: The Reds show some awesome defence as the Crusaders set up 1metre away from the Tryline but the Reds get the ball back and then clear.

63.00: The Crusaders pressure starts to pay off as they cross the Reds tryline. Corey Flynn is held up so a 5m scrum is awarded.

64.00: Cracks are starting to show in both sides. The Reds due to pressure and the Crusaders due to the combinations not having played before.

65.00: An illegal tackle on  Casey Laulala by Digby Ioane sees him luckily only being yellow carded and sent to the bin for 10 minutes.

66.00: From the penalty the Crusaders have a go at the line and they are short, they go again and Kieran Read gets the try.

67.00: Dan Carter takes the shot at goal and slots it to bring the gap down to six.

68.00: The Crusaders start to use the numbers and Crockett breaks and passes but the ball to Poki goes forward.

72.00: The Crusaders go on attack but the Reds tackle for their lives. They put everything into it.

73.00: Ben Lucas is sent to the bin and the Reds are down to 13 men.

73.00: Unbelievably the 13 Reds defend the 15 Crusaders and manage to turn the ball over and clear from a position that looked certain to produce a try.

74.00: Inevitably Sean Maitland breaks and passes to Ali Williams who dives over to score the try.

75.00: Dan Carter kicks the conversion to take the lead.

76.00: A Reds mistake from the restart sees the Crusaders run the ball up to the line and Carter runs in the Crusader BONUS point try which takes them to the top of the log and now they cannot finish lower than anyone else on the table.

77.00 Dan Carter misses the conversion.

78.00: Peter Hynes breaks and somehow the Reds create opportunities even though they are a man down.

79.00: The Reds get a penalty and they go for the line out – they win the ball – drive for the line.

80.00: The siren goes. A Penalty is awarded to the Reds
