Crusaders v Jaguares Super Rugby Final Preview

The Crusaders have played the Jaguares just twice in Super rugby since the South American side joined Super rugby in 2016.

The Crusaders have won both matches against the Jaguares and they were on a home and away basis.

The first match between the sides was in Christchurch and the Crusaders won 32-15 in 2016. In the only other match between the sides, the Crusaders won 40-14 in Buenos Aires and that was last year.

This weekend the match will be played in Christchurch which is home for the Crusaders. This year the Crusaders have played 10 matches at home and they have won nine and drawn one so they are unbeaten at home in 2019.

The Crusaders won all of their home matches in 2017, 2018 and are unbeaten in 2019. The last time they lost at home in Christchurch was 30 matches ago. Their worst result in those 30 matches was this year’s 21-all draw with the Sharks.

This will be the Jaguares first-ever Super rugby final and they will head to Christchurch as they have won their last seven matches in a row. The Jaguares have won their last three matches away from home. One of those wins was against the Hurricanes (28-20) in Wellington so they have already beaten a top New Zealand side in 2019.

In 2019 the Jaguares have played 8 matches away from home and won 5 which gives them a record of winning 63% of their away matches this year.

This will be the Crusaders 14th Super rugby title. They have won nine Super rugby titles to date so should they win on Saturday it will be their tenth title.

The Crusaders are the defending champions and have been for the last two seasons. A tenth title this weekend will be the second time that the Crusaders will have won three titles in a row. They last achieved this in 1998 Auckland, 1999 Dunedin & 2000 Canberra – all of these titles were won away from home.
