Match detail

We are waiting for the kick-off.

In the meantime, why not have a look at the match preview.

.00: PEEEEP! We are underway in Christchurch at Orangetheory Stadium. Conditions are excellent, it’s cold, but no wind and the field is dry, not much dew, which should make this a cracker.

.00: A couple of penalties for both teams as the sides begin this battle.

.00: The Hurricanes force a turnover, winning a scrum inside their 22. The scrum is reset.

.00: Ardie Savea with a big run off the back of the scrum. Joe Moody is offside – no advantage after Du’Plessis Kirifi cannot hold onto the ball.

.00: Ngani Laumape finds some space after Wes Goosen’s run. The Hurricanes can’t finish the attack, but they do win another penalty; it’s their third of the game.

.00: PENALTY! Jordie Barrett opens the scoring from in front. 0-3

.00: Scott Scrafton gives away a kickable penalty after a Crusaders attack following a linebreak.

.00: PENALTY! Richie Mo’unga levels. 3-3

.00: Big scrum by the hosts, who won a penalty after the opposition pack collapsed the set-piece. Mo’unga bangs the ball too deep, missing touch. Barrett clears back to the first-five, who begins a counter-attack.

.00: Crusaders win another penalty, they kick to the corner. Fraser Armstrong leaves the field with a shoulder injury. Tevita Mafileo replaces the loosehead prop.

.00: TRY! It’s that man Mo’unga, who dots down after Jack Goodhue sucks in two defenders and offloads to Mo’unga, on his right shoulder to score. 8-3

.00: CONVERSION! The flyhalf converts his 21st try for the Crusaders. 10-3

.00: The Hurricanes opt for the Gary Owen after winning a free-kick inside their half.

.00: The visitors win back possession and are working their way towards the home team’s try line.

.00: TRY! Wes Goosen finishes off the attack after good work by Peter Umaga-Jensen after Sevu Reece turned over possession following the Gary Owen (that Will Jordan let bounce). 10-8

.00: CONVERSION! Barrett levels for the Canes. 10-10

.00: Codie Taylor’s throw is not straight. Scrum for the visitors inside their 10m.

.00: Both teams conceding penalties after Taylor lost another lineout.

.00: Barrett calls for the tee.

.00: PENALTY! Barrett makes no mistake. 10-13

.00: TRY! Sensational score by George Bridge. Reece broke from midfield, bursting to the Hurricanes’ 22. The winger ran infield and launched a long cut-out pass to Bridge on the touchline. The ball bounced in front of the winger but he booted the ball forward, over the goal-line, raced past the defender, who was beaten by the bounce to score a stunning try. Now I’ve seen it all. 15-13

.00: CONVERSION! Mo’unga adds the extras. 17-13

.00: Hurricanes are mounting an attack from centre field.

.00: TRY! Goosen has a double, slicing up the Crusaders defence following a free-flowing move from right to left and back again. Goosen sent Bridge away with a dummy and beat Fetuli Paea’s ankle-tap to slide over the chalk. 17-18

.00: MISS! Barrett’s kick is no good. 17-18

.00: Three offsides in arrow lead to Barrett calling for the tee. Some confusion over the rules, but the ref explains to Taylor.

.00: PENALTY! Barrett lands the long-range kick to extend his teams lead at the break. 17-21

The halftime score was Crusaders 17 Hurricanes 21
