Emirates Western Force stars Scott Daruda and Troy Takiari have re-signed with RugbyWA until the end of the 2010 season.

Both have played major roles in the team’s fourth-placed opening half of the season, with Daruda winning selection at inside centre for tomorrow night’s clash with the Stormers at Subiaco Oval.

Born in Auckland, Troy Takiari and is a rugby journeyman despite not yet registering 20 Super Rugby caps.

Originally a member of the Brumbies Academy, the 29-year-old signed with the Waratahs in 2006 before being lured to Perth to debut for the WA side last season.

The 118kg prop is equally adept on both sides of the scrum and has played in every match in the Club’s 2008 campaign after earning 11 caps in his watershed season of 2007.

In that year he represented Australia A in Pacific Nations Cap matches against Tonga, Japan and Fiji and starred for the Perth Spirit in the ARC.

Takiari joined 22-year-old utility Scott Daruda in signing a new two-year deal today.

‘Having been to a few places during my career I’ve really enjoyed my time in Perth and the team is certainly on the up,’ said Takiari.

Papua New Guinean-born Daruda is in his third season with the Emirates Western Force and has represented Australia at Under 19 and Under 21 level, captaining the Under 19s in South Africa in 2005.

He debuted for the Emirates Western Force at flyhalf in the team’s inaugural match in 2006 and since has added nine caps.

Daruda said he had no hesitation in committing to the Emirates Western Force for two more seasons.

‘You have to consider all the options but when it came do it, the Force made the most sense,’ he said.

‘We’re a team in good form right now after building for the last two years and it’s an exciting place to be.’
