De Villiers will take back his number thirteen jersey when the Stormers face the Blues in Cape Town on Saturday.
Both sides are expected to come out guns blazing after both suffering defeats last weekend.
De Villiers is set for a special battle when he readies himself to face one of the players of the tournament so far, Blues centre Isaia Toeava.
Meanwhile coach Kobus van der Merwe has made some other changes to the side that went down to the Bulls last Saturday.
Bolla Conradie drops out for JP Joubert, Ross Skeate comes in at lock for the injured Andries Bekker, and Schalk Brits, who is suffering from a calf niggle, makes way for Tiaan Liebenberg.
JD Moller is being rested, and his position is taken by Schalk Ferreira.
Skipper Luke Watson said his side was ready to bounce back from last week’s defeat.
“In this competition, you don’t have the luxury of harbouring the hurt of defeat.
“You have to move on.”
