Bulls’ captain Fourie du Preez trained with his teammates on Monday at Loftus and there is a good possibility that he will be able to play against the Waratahs on Saturday.

The team doctor Tommie Smook said he is satisfied with Du Preez’s recovery but a final call will only be made later the week.

Smook said Du Preez’s understudy Heini Adams’ tibia is still swollen so his injury could not be examined properly.

“Heini will definitely not be out for the rest of the season but we will have to wait for the swelling to go down before we can make an assessment.” he says on the Bulls website.

At this stage I think he will be out for about two to three weeks.”

A stomach bug prevented flyhalf Derick Hougaard from training with the squad on Monday and hooker Derick Ku’n did not take any contact because he is suffering from a shoulder injury, but both players are expected to be eligible for the encounter against the Waratahs, who are currently second on the Super 14 log.

Number 8 Dewald Potgieter is presently in the final phase of his rehabilitation and is expected to be back on the field in a short while, whilst wing Marius Delport recovered from his groin injury and was back in full training on Monday.
