South Western District Eagles coach Johann Lerm has opted for two new props for the all-important Currie Cup First Division rugby match against the high-flying Griffons at Outeniqua Park on Friday.

After their hard-fought 11-10 win over the Border Bulldogs in East London last weekend, Jaco Terblanche and Renier Schoeman come in for Brood van der Westhuizen and Wikus Harmse.

Van der Westhuizen moves to the bench, while Harmse is rested. Terblanche made a huge impact when he got onto the field late in the second half against the Bulldogs – especially with some fearless tackling around the fringes.

Lerm also made a change at No 7 flank where Denzil Manuel is dropped in favour of Shawn Raubenheimer.

The Eagle backline also shows changes. An injury to left wing Baldwin McBean has forced Lerm to rearrange the back division.

Bevin Fortuin moves from centre to fullback, Bobby Joubert moves from fullback to left wing, while Joe Breytenbach will partner IZak Saayman at centre.

The SWD team is:

Bevin Fortuin (c), Norman Nelson, Izak Saayman, Joe Breytenbach, Bobby Joubert, Gaffie du Toit, Jandré Blom, Schalk van der Merwe, Shawn Raubenheimer, Victor Joubert, Henry Grimes, Wikus Liebenberg, Renier Schoeman, Wayne Bennett, Jaco Terblanche.

Replacements: Ashton Constant, Brood van der Westhuizen, Hein Potgieter, Denzil Manuel, Warren Malgas/Nzo Dyanti, Ricardo Croy, Jacques Engelbrecht.
