Golden Lions coach Eugene Eloff, with a fully fit team at his disposal, is confident that his fast-improving side is ready for the challenge they will face when they meet the Sharks in their Absa Currie Cup semi-final in Durban on Saturday.

With the side injury free and buoyant after their 75-0 thrashing of the Boland Cavaliers at the weekend, Eloff believes that they can build on the momentum created in recent weeks and are more than capable of stealing a win in the Shark Tank.

Eloff dismissed the notion that previous results between the two teams will have an effect on Saturday’s outing.

“The semi-final will be a match on it’s own,” he told this website.

“You can’t look at past results when it comes to the knock out stages, everyone will be upping their game because it’s the play-offs so it comes down to what happens on the day. It’s anyone’s game.”

Eloff added that the forwards would be looking to continue the momentum they had created in dominating the Cavaliers up front at the weekend and said that it would be great to see a repeat performance against the Sharks.

“It’s a game played by a whole team though,” he warned.

“I think it’s dangerous to focus on just one aspect of the game. We’ll have to play as a complete unit, utilising the forwards and the backline – both on attack and defence – to win this game.”
