A SANZAR Appeal Committee, via teleconference, has heard an appeal by NSW Waratahs flanker Rocky Elsom.


Elsom is appealing against a four-week suspension handed down by a SANZAR Judicial Committee for punching in the Waratahs Week 3 match against the Bulls in Pretoria.


The Appeal Committee, consisting of representatives in New Zealand, South Africa and Australia has reserved its decision and is considering its position under the Chairmanship of Jannie Lubbe, the South African Rugby Union representative based in Johannesburg.


The other members of the Appeals Committee areBruce Squire QC (NZRFU) and John Freedman (ARU).
