Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus says that the game of Rugby is ‘much better’ because of the ELVs but he cautioned that they will have to will have to be used properly.

‘I love the new laws but they must be implemented properly. The ball should not be stuck in the ruck for five or six seconds, it needs to come out more quickly.” Erasmus told The Times.

‘A breakdown is not a contestable thing. If two guys meet there and the ruck is formed and the ball doesn’t come out, then somebody is either hanging onto the ball or someone is not allowing it to come out and is off his feet playing the ball.

‘Within two seconds the ball should come out one way or the other, if it doesn’t then something illegal is happening and then it must be a free kick.

“In our game it took up to six seconds for the ball to come out and I question that.’ Erasmus added

The new rules have not received favourable feedback from Bulls captain Fourie du Preez but Stormers captain Jean de Villiers is taking a wait and see attitude for the new rules and said, ‘I think it’s too soon to be commenting on the new laws because we are still adapting to them.’
