Super 14 rugby franchise Western Force on Monday added Wallaby squad member Scott Fava to their playing roster for next year’s inaugural season.

A Force spokesperson said the ACT Brumbies No 8 becomes the 32nd member of the Western Force squad, with the coaching staff looking for a winger to complete their line-up.

Fava, 29, finished joint third in this year’s Super 12 Australian player of the series award, despite missing the last four games of the series with a broken hand.

He played 46 Super 12 games for the Brumbies and was selected for the Australia A squad last season but missed the tour to France because of injury.

Fava played for Australia A in June’s two-match series against the Junior All Blacks and is a member of the Wallaby squad, now in South Africa.

“It was a hard decision to leave the Brumbies as Ive been there for four years and they helped me become the footballer I am today,” he said.

Fava said he was attracted to Australia’s west coast by the lifestyle, the rugby programme and the opportunity to be a foundation member.

Fava joins other prominent Force signings, Brendan Cannon, Matt Henjak, Lachlan MacKay and Nathan Sharpe
