Brumbies Director of coaching Laurie Fisher will leave Canberra and take up the head coach position at English Premiership rugby club Gloucester after the Super Rugby season finishes.

Fisher is said to have agreed to leave the Brumbies at the end of the Super Rugby season and join Gloucester as head coach under former Ireland five-eighth David Humphreys who is the Director of Rugby.

Fisher has a long history with the Brumbies as he was their forwards coach under David Nucifora when they won their last Super Rugby title in 2004.

When Nucifora left the Brumbies, Fisher was promoted to the top job between 2005 and 2008 but they were unable to win another title.

Fisher then moved to Ireland and was Munster forwards coach between 2008 and 2011 and in 2012 he returned to Canberra and worked under Jake White.

When White left last year Fisher was appointed director of coaching and is responsible for coaching the forwards while Stephen Larkham is head coach and looks after the backs.

According to The Australian Larkham is being groomed as the long term head coach which could be why Fisher is heading back to the Northern Hemisphere.
