Stormers Super Rugby head coach Robbie Fleck says he is determined to improve on their accuracy going forward.

The Stormers earned their first Super Rugby victory over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein since 2012 but Fleck wants the team to perform a lot better.

Stormers coach Robbie Fleck was satisfied with the four points for the hard-fought 20-10 victory against the Cheetahs on Saturday, but admitted that there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of their performance.

“It is always tough to come up here and play the Cheetahs, it is a nice win for us and we will take that.

“Overall we weren’t as accurate as we should have been. Credit to the Cheetahs, they got under our skin in the first 60 minutes, but we are pleased with the end result and pleased with the last 20 minutes.

“It was a frustrating performance, we weren’t accurate and we were too loose in that first half but the half-time chat was good and we were better in the second half,” he said.

While it was a second consecutive victory which puts the Stormers on top of the Africa Conference 1, five points clear of the Bulls, Fleck expects more from his side and feels they could have made better use of their opportunities against the Cheetahs.

“We just weren’t accurate enough, there was too much loose ball being thrown around, and we just weren’t clinical.

“I felt that our pack didn’t play as well as it should have, we were slow to react, our first half set-piece wasn’t good enough and credit to the Cheetahs who put us under pressure there,” he said.

However, they did show good composure to close out the game and come away with a crucial away victory, with plenty to work on ahead of their clash with the Cell C Sharks at Newlands on Saturday.

“Coming away with a win here is crucial and we haven’t done it in three seasons, so it is a step up in the right direction.

“We are looking forward to the return match, I think we can be a lot more clinical and a lot more accurate in our performance and that is what we have go to work on for next week,” Fleck added.
