RugbyWA will appeal the decision made by a Committee that found it guilty of breaching the Australian Rugby Union’s player contracting process in relation to their dealings with Waratah lock Al Kanaar and imposed a fine of $110,000.

The Committee found that RugbyWA had entered a negotiation process with Kanaar in a way that was contrary to and in breach of the contracting protocols.

RugbyWA Chairman Geoff Stooke said he was very surprised with the outcome, and confirmed that RugbyWA would appeal the finding and the penalty.

‘We have notified the ARU that we will be appealing, and we are currently briefing counsel,’ Stooke said.
