The second Australian Super Rugby derby of the opening round is between the Western Force and the Melbourne Rebels.

Match detail

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Rebels kick off and the match is underway. Jack Debreczeni was ruled out just before the match so there have been some changes, Mike Harris moves to 10, Tom English on the wing and Reec Hodge moves from wing to Full Back.

2.00: Penalty to the Rebels. Reece Hodge takes the kick and nails it. The Rebels lead.

8.00: The Force gradually work the ball into the Rebels half. They win a line out and then after two phases on attack they win a penalty. The Force will kick for posts.

10.00: Jono Lance takes the kick, nails it and the scores are level.

13.00: The Rebels earn another penalty but this time Reece Hodge misses.

18.00: The Rebels try to clear the ball upfield but Dane Haylett-Petty manages to charge the ball down.

22.00: The Force win a penalty and as Jono Lance slots the penalty, Mike Harris limps off which is the Rebels second loss of a number 10 so far.

30.00: Tamati Ellison powers through two tackles and offloads to Reece Hodge who scores for the Rebels on his debut.

31.00: Hodge converts his own try.

35.00: The Force attack the Rebels in their 22. Jono Lance changes direction and cuts back inside. He is stopped short but rolls over and dots the ball down and scores. TRY!

36.00: Lance converts his try. Its the Lance v Hodge show.

The Rebels new signing Adam Thomson races for the corner and takes two with him and goes over to score. TRY! Hodge takes the conversion. He nails it from the sideline.

Its half time.

The second half is underway.

43.00: The Force earn an early penalty so Lance lines up the kick and takes the shot. He nails it.

50.00: The game is paused as a Western Force player is down and injured. The game resumes.

52.00: Marcel Brache gets away with a knock on but the Force continue to play. They go through seven phases and press forward even though there are players dropping all over the field. The heat is causing players to cramp. Lots of stops to get players back on their feet.

54.00: The Rebels win a line out and press the Force back. They have an advantage but play on. When the movement dies they come back for the penalty. Hodge takes the kick. He nails it.

59.00: Penalty to the Force from the scrum. Lance takes the kick and nails it.

62.00: The Rebels build up momentum and Ellison slips through and again offloads to Hodge who scores his second TRY on his debut.

63.00: Hodge takes the conversion but misses. Ellison limps off – possibly cramp.

68.00: The Force go through the phases on attack in the Rebel’s half but when they get to the 5m line the Rebels win a penalty.

74.00: The heat is really getting to the players. Peter Grant tries to clear the slippery ball but slices it into touch.

79.00: Agression spills over as the siren sounds. Several players are involved and the Rebels have a penalty. The Rebels decide to kick for touch and end the game.

Thats it the Rebels win.
