Springbok scrumhalf Fourie du Preez could be heading to Europe as early as next month if he decides to accept one of four offers he has received.

The Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Sondag reported that Du Preez is currently considering four offers and has not ruled out the option of an imminent move after the Super 14.

The Bulls captain missed his team’s 47-17 win over the Highlanders on Saturday with a hand injury, but told Sondag that he was waiting for the Super 14 to finish before he made a final decision.

According to the report, two British clubs as well as Stade France and Brive are after his signature.

“I have received a few offers,” Du Preez told Sondag, “But I wasn’t looking for them.

At the moment I’m playing for the Bulls in the Super 14 and I have a contract with them.

“I will however have a look after the Super 14, weigh up my options and take a decision then about my future.

Du Preez was offered a contract with the Springboks but didn’t sign within the time allowed. This gives him an escape clause in his contract with the Bulls.

“The Springbok contract was withdrawn and there is an escape clause in my contract with the Bulls that says if I receive an offer from overseas and I am not contracted to the Bulls, I can leave,” he said.

“But at the moment, I must add, I want to stay here, and don’t have any plans at the moment to move.”
