Giteau, who was not drinking heavily according to Channel Nine news, had to be carried out of the club in Sydney’s trendy King’s Cross district after suffering a ‘momentary blackout’.
The ARU medical team has taken both blood and urine samples to find out why Giteau suddenly collapsed, and although the precise results are not yet known, any substance abuse has been ruled out, as has any breach of team protocol.
An ARU spokesman also said there was no evidence that any drink spiking had taken place.
Giteau will thus take his place in Saturday’s Tri-Nations line-up against South Africa.
