Highlanders suffer Evans blow

The Highlanders’ Super 14 hopes have been hit by an injury to their number 10 Nick Evans who is likely to be ruled out for a month or longer with a broken collar bone.

Evans picked up the injury in last Saturday’s Bulls match in Pretoria South Africa which came at the end of their three South African tour.

A Highlanders spokeswoman said today that Evans will see a specialist when the team gets home. “We will then have an idea of the length of time needed for rehabilitation,” she said.

The Highlanders lost to the Bulls but picked up a bonus point. They beat the Cheetahs and the Stormers and picked up a total of 9 points on tour placing them sixth on the log.

The Highlanders will face the Sharks at home in Carisbrook on Saturday.
