QR Queensland Reds and Wallaby prop Greg Holmes has been ruled out of consideration for Saturday’s game against the Blues in Auckland, but versatile back Peter Hynes will be fit to play.

Holmes is still feeling the effects of a shoulder injury suffered against the Brumbies in last weekend’s Investec Super 14 match.

“Greg has some shoulder damage that’s been slow to resolve itself so we want to give him more time to recover,” Reds Head coach Eddie Jones said today.

Holmes suffered a subluxed left shoulder, which in layman’s terms was a partial dislocation. His progress will be monitored by Reds medical staff and reviewed again next week.

Powerful University prop Herman Hunt has been named in the tour squad of 23, with a starting lineup and final 22 to be named tomorrow morning before the team leaves for New Zealand (NZ 136 departing 1140).

Utility back Peter Hynes has shrugged off an ankle sprain and will take his place in the squad. Hynes was a surprise selection at inside centre against the Brumbies and provided real attacking thrust in the unfamiliar role until he was forced off by the ankle sprain.

Winger Caleb Brown returns from a persistent hamstring injury to replace the suspended Lloyd Johansson in the squad, while hooker Ole Avei comes into the squad for Stephen Moore (knee).

The squad is:
