Waratahs captain Michael Hooper has admitted that they have much to work on and in particular their defensive systems.
The Waratahs fell to their third straight loss at home in Sydney on Saturday and the Brumbies now have a 9 point lead on the New South Wales side.
Brumbies winger Joe Tomane scored a hat-trick of tries in the 20-26 victory over the Waratahs while Stephen Moore added a third.
The Waratahs scored two tries through Reece Robinson and Israel Folau but Hooper said the Brumbies powerful start hurt the Sydney side.
“They came out hard and they hit us early,” said Hooper after the match..
“They found some space on the open side, so we need to do some work on our defensive systems.”
Hooper said that he was pleased with the Waratahs start as in previous recent matches they had allowed opposition teams to run up big scores but against the Brumbies they were only trailing 17-19 at half time.
The Waratahs fly to Perth in Round nine where they will play the Force.
