Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Highlanders and the Hurricanes the Highlanders have won three and the Hurricanes two.

We are waiting for the kick off.


Colin Slade kicks off and we are underway.


3.00: The Hurricanes make a strong start to the match with Andre Taylor’s replacement at fullback James Marshall enjoying a small break.


7.00: Hurricanes move the ball into the Highlanders half. They progressively move the ball forward and then into the 22. They keep the momentum going and Conrad Smith scores the first TRY!!


8.00: Beauden Barrett takes the conversion but misses.


10.00: Huge blow for the Highlanders as Andrew Hore has been replaced due to an injury and Brad Thorn is the new captain.


15.00: The Highlanders get their first chance for points after a scrum penalty. Slade lines up and takes the shot. He nails it. The Highlanders are on the board.


17.00: The Hurricanes come close to scoring again as they kick deep and chase. The Highlanders can’t control the ball due to the bounce and the Hurricanes get there but knock on.


21.00: Highlanders starting to make some breaks and looking more dangerous. However hands in the ruck means the Hurricanes get a penalty and kick the ball downfield for a line out.


25.00: Highlanders holding on to the ball more. They win a scrum and start to go through the phases moving the ball forward.


27.00: Highlanders sending wave after wave of attack at the Hurricanes through 17 phases. The Hurricanes hang on but then they concede a penalty. Slade takes the kick and nails it. The Highlanders lead.


31.00: Victor Vito gets the ball near the touchline and charges for the line, he passes to Ben Franks who is on the wing and he bashes through Ben Smith’s tackles and he goes in and scores in the corner. TRY! TMO checks the passes and all is fine.


31.00: Beauden Barrett takes the conversion kick and slots this one.


34.00: The Highlanders are fighting back. Gear gets the ball with an open tryline but he is shutdown in a triple tackle.


35.00: The Highlanders win a scrum in the Hurricanes 22. They slip the ball to Hosea Gear who races through a Barrett tackle and scores next to the posts.


36.00: Slade adds the conversion and the Highlanders lead again.


38.00: Hurricanes look to hit back immediately. They get the ball to the Highlanders tryline and they go over but we have to go upstairs as there are bodies everywhere. TMO says lost forward. No try.


39.00: Highlanders win the scrum and kick for halfway. The Hurricanes win the line out and attack.


40.00: The siren sounds as the Hurricanes are going through the phases. Savea makes a break but is caught. Hurricanes keep the ball alive but eventually they knock on. It’s half time.

Beauden Barrett kicks off for the second half and we are underway again.


43.00: The Highlanders enjoy some early momentum on attack. They lose the ball and then force the Hurricanes to attack from deep.


44.00: Penalty to the Highlanders. They kick for touch.


45.00: Another penalty for the Highlanders after the line out and then the ruck. Hurricanes caught entering the ruck from the side. Slade will kick for posts. He nails it.


46.00: Andre Taylor comes on to replace James Marshall for the Hurricanes.


49.00: Wow. The Hurricanes work the ball up to the Highlanders 5m line. TJ Perenara gets the ball and powers through a couple of tackles and scores. TRY!


50.00: Beauden Barrett misses the conversion.


52.00: The Highlanders strike and Jason Emery snipes in the corner. The TMO has a look but he was out. No try.


55.00: Highlanders putting the Hurricanes tryline under real pressure. Thorn comes close to scoring but is stopped. The Highlanders recycle and then Jason Eaton knocks on.


57.00:Penalty to the Highlanders. Slade takes the kick from in front and nails it. The Highlanders lead again.


59.00: Highlanders looking much stronger in attack as the game wears on. Gear makes a break and the move gets the Highlanders in to the Hurricanes 25. They do however knock on.


64.00: The Hurricanes have brought on some of their replacements and they have had an inmediate impact. They get the ball into the Highlanders 22 and win a penalty. Barrett takes the kick and nails it.


67.00: Hurricanes looking stronger at the moment. They are in the Highlanders 22 but they knock on.


69.00: Highlanders win the scrum and clear the ball to the half way line.


70.00: Penalty to the Hurricanes just inside the Highlanders half. Barrett will kick for posts. It’s a big kick and he nails it.


71.00: There is a break in play for an injury to Brayden Mitchell.


74.00: Penalty for the Highlanders. Slade misses. Ouch.


75.00: Penalty to the Highladers. They kick for touch but get caught offside at the line out.


77.00: The Hurricanes start attacking but a loose pass is sent and Perenara can’t control the ball and he knocks on.


78.0: The Highlanders do all the work and attack in the Hurricanes 25, the ball goes to ground but stays legal and the Highlanders move the ball closer to the line gradually.


79.00: This is the Highlanders last chance as they attack in the Hurricanes 22. They pass forward.


The Hurricanes win the scrum and kick the ball out as the siren sounds. Thats it. Hurricanes win.
