Hurricanes flanker Jerry Collins and wing Lome Fa’atau could be dropped for their Super 14 match against the Stormers this weekend because of a punch-up.

Coach Colin Cooper would not comment on what happened at the Pizzaz nightclub in Bloemfontein on Saturday but club owner Bertus van der Nest said the pair had an argument and then Collins elbowed Fa’atau in the face.

Van der Nest said there was no further incident inside the bar but the fight continued outside when some of the Hurricanes left the club.

“They left, and outside they had a fight and threw a few punches for maybe half a minute, before their guys came in and held them back,” van der Nest said.

Team manager Garry Carnachan described their actions as “pretty stupid and not acceptable”, and confirmed disciplinary action.

As reported in rugbyenews.com Cooper would not comment on what the players’ punishment had been but when asked if the clash would lead to the pair being dropped he said: “You’ll have to wait and see. The team will be named on Friday.”
