Hurricanes pleased with passion against Blues

Hurricanes flanker Ardie Savea says they are pleased with the team’s show of passion in their 19-23 victory over the Blues in Auckland but there is still much work to be done.

The Hurricanes led the Super Rugby standings throughout the 2015 season which earned them the right to host the final but in 2016 they lost their first two matches.

The Hurricanes were well beaten in their season opener against the Brumbies but improved against the Highlanders in Round 2.

The Blues made a pacy start to their third round match against the Hurricanes and early on it looked like the Hurricanes losing streak would be extended.

However they got themselves back into the match and by half time were in front on the scoreboard. The Blues showed some fighting spirit and put the Hurricanes under immense pressure through to extra time but the Canes held on to win.

“For the guys to defend like that shows they really wanted it,” said flanker Ardie Savea.

“But we let them into the game, we can’t do that.”

Savea said the Hurricanes”still have a lot to work on” to reclaim their 2015 form.”

The Hurricanes play the Force in Palmerston North next week.
