2.00: After a knock on the Hurricanes win the first scrum of the match. They move the ball down the line and Ben Lam gets the ball and powers his way at speed to the tryline. TRY! Ngani Laumape and Vaea Fifita played big roles in making the try.

3.00: Jordie Barrett takes the conversion but misses. 5-0

7.00: The Hurricanes press the Blues back into their 22 and after the ball is chipped ahead the Blues have to get back and dot the ball down behind the line. 5m scrum.

9.00: The Blues win the scrum and run it initially but then kick it away to safety near the halfway line.

13.00: The Hurricanes keep pressing the Blues back in their 22. They get an advantage and chip over the Blues to chase but the whistle goes and they get the penalty. The Hurricanes kick to the corner for the line out.

14.00: The Blues defend the line out.

18.00: Hurricanes win a penalty on the halfway line so they kick for touch.

19.00: The Blues win the line out and work the ball into the Hurricanes 22 but when they get in front of the posts the Hurricanes win a penalty for holding on.

24.00: The Blues kick to the half way line to relieve pressure but the ball goes to the Hurricanes who run it back into the Blues 22.

35.00: The Blues break out from near the half way line. Mark Telea makes huge ground but is stopped about 6m out. Stephen Perofeta gets the Blues closer, The Blues recycle and get about 1m out but there is a knock on – by the Hurricanes so the Blues have the scrum.

36.00: The Blues drive to the line – the Hurricanes are offside and the Blues have the advantage. The whistle goes and the TMO is called upon to review a potential try. Akira Ioane is seen reaching for the line and the TMO confirms it is a TRY!

38.00; Penalty to the Hurricanes. Jordie Barrett takes the shot and nails it. Hurricanes lead again.

40.00: The siren sounds for half time but there is time for a line out.

42.00: The Blues turn the ball over and start to attack the Hurricanes in the Canes half. They get into the Hurricanes 22. The Blues keep the ball moving through the hands and gradually get closer and closer to the line. 15 phases and on they go.

44.00: The Hurricanes win a penalty for holding on. The Hurricanes boot the ball out to end the half.

43.00: The Hurricanes win a line out and start to work the ball through the phases and gradually they get to the Blues 22.

44.00: The Hurricanes almost breakthrough a couple of times but they hold on and win a penalty.

46.00: The TMO is called on to review a tackle. Tyrel Lomax’s shoulder connects with a Blues player’s head. He is shown a red card!

47.00: The Blues are awarded a penalty and kick for touch to set a line out inside the Hurricanes 22.

48.00: The Blues throw the ball in – but it goes directly to a Hurricanes player. The Hurricanes run it out of their 22.

51.00: Jordie Barrett gets the ball and launches into open space, he makes huge ground and offloads to Fletcher Smith but he gets caught and a promising attack is thwarted.

53.00: The Blues get the ball on the wing but the Hurricanes shut them down. The Blues retain the ball and change sides but get called back and win a penalty.

55.00: the Blues are using their numbers on attack, they go wide to the wing and Mark Telea goes for the corner – he is tackled and dives for the line – it’s milliseconds and millimeters but the try is awarded. TRY!

56.00: Black slots the conversion – Blues lead 8-14.

59.00: Earlier in the match the Blues had made twice the tackles the Hurricanes had – the tackle count is now Hurricanes 107 Blues 96. The Blues are making the Hurricanes work.

62.00: The Hurricanes win a scrum and fire off the back with pace Gareth Evans races away and offloads to Kobus van Wyk who scores near the corner. They needed that! TRY! 

63.00: Jordie Barrett takes the conversion kick from the touchline. He nails it. The Hurricanes lead. 15-14.

67.00: The Hurricanes lose Vaea Fifita to the sin-bin for a shoulder (no arms) tackle. The Blues will have a shot at the posts.

68.00 Otere Black lines up the posts – he nails it – the Blues lead again. 15-17

74.00The Blues win a scrum in the Hurricanes 22. They run the ball – with the overlap – but Jordie Barrett reaches for the intercept and knocks the ball down. It’s a penalty TRY and yellow card for Barrett !! The Canes are down to 12 players.

78.00: Fifita comes back on so the Hurricanes are back to 13 players.
