Crusaders beat Hurricanes in Wellington

9.00: PENALTY! Barrett calls for the tee again and makes no mistake from in front. 3-0

11.00: TRY! George Bridge is tackled short of the try line by Ngani Laumape before wrigging over and being held up. It looks like a double movement, but the TMO awards the try. 3-5

17.00: Crusaders tap-and-go, but give away a penalty on the Hurricanes’ try line. Good work by the hosts.

19.00: Bridge knocks on a high ball near the Canes’ 10m. The game is a little scrappy as both teams look to settle into the contest.

21.00: Peter Umaga-Jensen breaks from midfield before booting the ball away. Will Jordan cleans up, Mo’unga clears, but the Hurricanes give away a penalty. Jack Goodhue limps off the field, Leicester Fainga’anuku comes on at centre.

22.00: CAPTAIN’S REFERRAL! Three penalties in a row: offside, jumping across the lineout, and now for not releasing. However, David Havili neck-rolled Jordie Barrett. The Canes got lucky there.

24.00: Bridge has a brace after Taylor’s long, floated pass to Jordan. Bridge had space on the touchline and strolled in for the try. Moody limps off in his 100th Super Rugby match. 3-12

25.00: CONVERSION! Mo’unga does the business. 3-14

28.00: TRY! WOW! The Hurricanes almost fluff the opportunity after Xavier Numia’s loose pass, but Ngani Laumape takes Coles’ pass, runs a beautiful line at Bower, beats the prop, and the cover defenders to score. 8-14

30.00: Codie Taylor wins another penalty after Ngani Laumape is isolated after the restart.

31.00: TRY! The Bus, Julian Savea, strikes for the home team after Scott Barrett loses the restart. James Blackwell made the run down the touchline, played in the winger, who raced away to score in the corner. 15-17

32.00: CONVERSION! Barrett fades his kick through the posts. We are level. 17-17

34.00: Barrett shanks his clearance kick, giving the Crusaders a lineout on the Hurricanes’ 22.

35.00: Superb work by Ardie Savea, who wins the penalty at the next ruck.

36.00: Bower knocks on in contact. Barrett put in a big hit on Mo’unga after the flyhalf’s linebreak, following a stolen lineout by the visitors.

37.00: Sevu Reece pushes Jordie Barrett in the back; penalty to the hosts.

39.00: Ardie Savea hols up Scott Barrett in the tackle, and using one hand, strips the lock and breaks up-field. But the move stops after Savea’s pass is almost intercepted by David Havili.

41.00: Jordie Barrett boots the penalty to the opposition’s 22.

42.00: Julian Savea is held up by Sam Whitelock after a last-ditch attack by the hosts. The Hurricanes went side-to-side, but could not crack the red wall.

43.00: CAPTAIN’S REFERRAL! It’s the Crusaders who go to the new referral, this time. TMO Glen Newman spots that Ngani Laumape used his elbow to the throat of Scott Barrett in the build-up of the previous attack.

46.00: Reece gets in front of Mo’unga after Jordan’s linebreak, and is pinged for offside.

54.00: End-to-end! The Canes lose the fifth lineout of the game, it allows the Saders to break from their line. Jordan carries, after Havili’s break, but he kicks the ball out behind the dead-ball line.
