QR Queensland Reds surprise package Peter Hynes is ready to take his place at inside centre for tomorrow’s importantInvestec Super 14 clash with the Blues in Auckland (kickoff 4:35pm Queensland time).

Reds coach Eddie Jones had kept his options open on Hynes, recovering from an ankle sprain, until the last minute before deciding he would be right to playagainst the Blues.

Hynes, who has been a revelation sinceJones started trying him out closer to the action than his usual wing spot, was themost incisive player on the field in the first half of the match against the Brumbies last weekend before coming off injured.

As expected, prop Ben Coutts will get his first run-on start for the Reds in Super 14, after taking the place of the injured Greg Holmes. Giant University prop Herman Hunt is in line for his first Super 14 cap after being named on the bench.

Exciting young winger Brando Va’alu has retained his starting spot after Jones decided to give Caleb Brown another week off to recover from his hamstring strain. Brown was in the tour squad of 23 but missed the cut when the final 22 was named tonight.

The Reds are one from three after the three tough matches and will be looking for a win to stay in touch with the Super 14 field despite the Blues starting as strong favourites.
