Injury forces changes to Reds

Injury has forced changes to the QR Queensland Reds team to play the Hurricanes in Wellington this Friday.

Julian Huxley (hip flexor) and Lloyd Johansson (shoulder) have not recovered sufficiently to take their places, while speedy winger Peter Hynes was ruled out yesterday with a medial strain to his knee.

Andrew Brown will make his Super 14 debut at inside centre in place of Huxley, while Caleb Brown will come off the bench onto the wing for Hynes.

Andrew Brown has one Queensland cap having played in last year’s match against the Junior All Blacks at Ballymore.

Tim Atkinson will take Caleb Brown’s place on the bench.

Coach Jeff Miller has also made a change to the forwards with Mitchell Chapman replacing Tom McVerry in the starting line-up. McVerry moves to the bench.

The Reds will take 24 players to Wellington, with Henari Veritau and Aniva Niumata included in the squad as cover.

The team leaves for Wellington at 6.40pm today (Wednesday).
