Jaguares name 44 strong Super Rugby squad

Argentina’s Super Rugby franchise Los Jaguares have announced a 44 strong Super Rugby squad for the 2017 season.

The Jaguares board has approved a squad that is once again filled with internationals but is 40/1 favourites to win the title.

Jaguares board member Fernando Rizzi said that the team’s challenge this Super Rugby season is to put what they learnt in 2016 into practice in 2017.

“We continue to grow.” said Rizzi. “This is a challenge that Argentine rugby has begun to move from joining the Rugby Championship first and last year to Super Rugby. For this reason and taking into account the strategic importance of the decisions we have made, the Board has made available to the Staff and players all the tools available to tackle the best players in the toughest professional rugby competition. ”

Raúl Pérez, in his second season as Head Coach of the team, said about ,”The immediate challenge is to be able to establish within the field all the experience lived and accumulated in 2016. Return to compete in the most important and demanding tournament in the world, With a season on, already by itself is very different. ”

Regarding the game and the first match against the Kings he said, “The expectation is set to go game by game. And I remember when we played against Kings in Port Elizabeth, the misconduct we had cost us the game. And I think that’s the challenge. ”

“Afterwards, we will be changng the actions for the second game, which is Stormers in Cape Town, and build on what we did well in the first match and have the reflexes to modify what we did not do so well. ”
