2.00: Ngani Laumape loses possession, but the ball is cleaned up and booted down the field. Some aerial ping-pong takes place before Santiago Carreras clears into touch on halfway.

3.00: Guido Petti gets penalised for taking a Hurricanes player out in the air at the lineout.

4.00: Marcos Kremer steals a lineout against the throw, the ball is cleared but not out, and the ‘Canes attack near the opposition’s 10m.

5.00: The Jaguares defence has started well, winning two turnovers, one in open play, one at the ruck, as well as winning their opponent’s throw in a dangerous position inside their 22.

6.00: Jordie Barrett will attempt a 63-metre longe-range penalty.

7.00: PENALTY! Unbelievable from the fullback, playing in his 50th Super Rugby game, he lands the monster kick with about 10 metres in the bank. 0-3

9.00: Carreras, safe under the high ball, gathers and returns the ball out of his 22. Both teams continue to kick for territory, waiting for infringements and mistakes from the opposition.

14.00: Gonzalo Quesada’s men like to attack the wide channels. Miotti gets an attack going with a wide pass to Boffelli before the left-wing collects a grubber and plays Tomas Cubelli, on his inside. However, the scrumhalf knocks on when it was easier to score.

16.00: PENALTY! Miotti levels from 41 metres. 3-all

18.00: 18.00: NO TRY! TMO deems Gareth Evans obstructed Matias Moroni, which allowed Billy Proctor a clear run to the try-line. 3-all

20.00: The visitors have the lineout just outside their 22. They had to dig deep to stop the home team’s counter-attack. Barrett clears to halfway.

21.00: OH, DEAR! Wes Goosen knocks on a bouncing ball, gifting Quesada’s men a central attacking scrum about 30 metres out.

23.00: TRY! Kremer finishes off a sublime attack from the Jaguares. Moroni started the attack with a burst up to the Kiwis’ 22. The ball was recycled quickly to Boffelli before Cubelli put the flanker away thanks to his angled run. 8-3

24.00: CONVERSION! Miotti makes no mistake. 10-3

25.00: Gorrissen gets caught by the ref for not rolling away in the ruck. Barrett calls for the tee.

27.00: PENALTY! Barrett doubles his side’s score. 10-6

30.00: The Kiwis are in a good attacking position inside the Jaguares’ 22. The attack has gone several phases but the opposition’s defence is strong.

32.00: Scrum to the hosts after Isaia Walker-Leawere’s knock-on.

33.00: Evans wins his side a penalty after a dangerous attack from the home team. Barrett will take a shot from distance.

34.00: PENALTY! Barrett’s kick flies into the stand: What has he been eating! 10-9

36.00: Du’Plessis Kirifi doesn’t support his body-weight at the breakdown, conceding the penalty. Miotti will look to cancel out Barrett’s earlier strike.

39.00: The visitors have a defensive lineout outside their 22. Petti wins the throw, but the ball is recovered by the Hurricanes. Barrett launches a long kick, but Carreras clears to touch.

41.00: MISS! Miotti’s drop-goal is wide and rolls out over the dead-ball line.

43.00: A long series of attacks and counter-attacks ends with Miotti throwing a long, double skip-pass to Boffelli on the wing. Boffelli took the ball to the try-line but was tackled short. He should have scored, but the Jaguares have the penalty.

44.00: Miotti calls for the tee; the kick is right in front.

45.00: PENALTY! The ball falls over, the ref tells the 23-year-old that time is running, so he puts the ball back on the tee and slots the kick. 13-9

52.00: Gonzalo Bertranou enters the field after a 357-day absence through injury.

53.00: A late no-arms tackle by Walker-Leawere leads to a kickable penalty in front of the posts for Miotti.

54.00: PENALTY! He makes no mistake. 16-12

57.00: Good defending from the hosts as they win a penalty at the ruck.

59.00: NO TRY! Barrett gets back and makes a last-ditch try-saving tackle on Boffelli, whose foot is in touch just before he dotted down in the corner. WOW! 16-12

61.00: Twenty-six, whoever that is, is offside. Miotti kicks to the corner.

63.00: TRY! Agustin Creevy flops over the goal-line to extend the lead. 21-12

64.00: CONVERSION! Miotti’s kick is successful. 23-12

67.00: The Jaguares are in complete control. The ‘Canes look rudderless.

68.00: Luamape makes a break and sends Perenara away, however, the halfback is tackled short before being carried over the line. Perenara tells the ref that he did not score, saving a wasted TMO review. Nice!

70.00: TRY! The Hurricanes have their first try of the season. It’s Alex Fidow with a quick-tap to power over the line. 23-17

72.00: CONVERSION! Jackson Garden-Bachop keeps his side in with a chance. 23-19

75.00: BIG defence by the Kiwis, who won a scrum on their 22.

78.00: TRY! Vaea Fifita plays a one-two with Laumape, who puts Jamie Booth away for the winner. 23-24
