Jantjies & Ismaiel to sit out Currie Cup training

Blue Bulls Currie Cup coach Pine Pienaar is confident that even though Tony Jantjies and Travis Ismaiel will miss training until Wednesday they will be available for selection for Saturday’s Currie Cup clash against Western Province at Loftus Versfeld.

Jantjies (hip) and Ismaiel (knee) will train the on Wednesday and could be named in the squad to play the defending champions.

Francois Venter (foot) and Clayton Blommetjies (ankle) will train tomorrow, but Morne Mellett will only be ready to resume training on Monday and will miss another week of rugby.

Basil Short (knee, 4 months), Francois Hougaard (ankle, 5 months), Cornell Hess (knee, 6 weeks), Deon Stegmann (shoulder, 5 months), Arno Botha (knee, 2 months), Pierre Spies (bicep, 3 months), Louis Fouche (knee, 4 months), Jean Cook (thumb, 3 weeks) and Callie Visagie (ankle, 4 weeks) remain longer time casualties.
