South African Super Rugby Group leaders the Lions have revealed that flyhalf Elton Jantjies fractured a finger in the Lions 52-24 victory over the Jaguares.
Jantjies was forced to leave the field midway through the second half against the Jaguares at Emirates Airline (Ellis) Park and has seen a hand surgeon about the injury.
After visiting the surgeon it has been decided that Jantjies will undergo an operation on his fractured finger on Tuesday and should be ready to play 3-4 weeks.
With Super Rugby taking a break after the next round for the June Internationals Jantjies should not miss any Super Rugby game time but will not be available for the Springboks in the June Internationals.
In other injury news the Lions have also revealed that Jaco van der Walt sustained a grade III PCL injury of his right knee and will be out for about 6 weeks.
In addition Corn Fourie injured a rib cartilage and will undergo a late fitness test this week.
