On the face of things Jerry Collins appears to be ready to call time on New Zealand rugby after he took the final conversion kick in the Hurricanes Semi-final which is an honour generally reserved for stalwarts calling it quits or heading overseas.

It is widely known that several clubs are interested in the big flanker and his skipper, Andrew Hore, appeared to let the cat out of the bag last night when he said: “I won’t burst his bubble.

“You can read into it what you like.

“But what does it generally mean when people take their last kick?” he said in the Sunday Star Times.

Collins then confused things by denying he’d made a decision.

“I don’t really want to talk about it really because we have just lost a semifinal and everyone is a bit down,” Collins said.
