Kings Boss Solomons linked to Edinburgh again

Southern Kings Director of Rugby Alan Solomons has again been linked to Celtic League Rugby club Edinburgh in Scotland for the upcoming season.

Edinburgh relieved their coach Michael Bradley and have been played under interim appointment Stevie Scott since then.

It is understood that officials from Scotland met with Solomons when the Scotland national team were in South Africa in June last month.

The Southern Kings have denied that Solomons is about to leave their employment but reports in Edinburgh sayd that they are only waiting for the deal to be “rubber stamped”.

Super Rugby’s newcomers the Southern Kings finished in last place this season and play the first of two Promotion/Relegation (home and away) matches against the Lions for a place in next year’s Super Rugby tournament.

The first of the two matches is this Friday and the second is scheduled for next Saturday which is the same day as the Super Rugby final.

South African newspaper the Cape Argus recently said of the Eastern Province Kings’ team’s director of  Rugby, “Although it has been officially denied by Solomons, it is understood he will be heading to Edinburgh later in the year.”

Meanwhile sources in Scotland say that the formal accouncement of Solomons appointment after the Southern Kings complete their relegation matches and they are waiting for confirmation that the Kings will be relegated so that the South African coach does not want to stay.

Earlier this year Scotland announced that Vern Cotter would be the new Scotland head coach but days later the New Zealander insisted that he would be remaining at Clermont Auvergne for another season and Edinburgh officials want to avoid a similar embarrassment.
