Kings v Jaguares Rd.14 Super Rugby Preview

on

The third Super Rugby match on Friday is in South Africa where the Southern Kings host the Jaguares at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

Both of these teams are expansion teams and have had difficult first seasons. The Southern Kings have had problems on and off the field and have only managed one win from 11 matches.

The Jaguares have had a difficult first season in Super Rugby as well because even though they have an almost full Argentina World Cup squad in their ranks they have only won two matches from 11.

One of the Jaguares victories was against the Southern Kings in Buenos Aires when they beat the South African newcomers 73-27. The other was a 33-34 victory over the Cheetahs in Rd.1.

The Southern Kings have also been hit hard by injury as Wandile Mjekevu was with the Sharks earlier this week and after being loaned to the Kings in Tuesday he was named in the starting line up on Wednesday.

Including Mjekevu the Kings have made four changes for this match – two rotational and two changes. Stefan Watermeyer, who has missed the past two matches due to a tendon strain in his foot, has been cleared and will be returning to his usual berth at outside centre, seeing JP du Plessis move onto the bench,

Up front Edgar Marutlulle returns to start at hooker after missing the last game due to illness. He takes up Martin Ferreira’s berth, who is out for the rest of the season with a dislocated rib.

Davids also rotated Schalk Oelofse and JC Astle at flank, with Astle coming up from the bench to start this week. Utility back Dewald Human, secures a berth on the bench in place of Elgar Watts who is off due to a tendon strain in his foot.

The Jaguares have also made four changes and captain Agustin Creevy returns from suspension to start. Creevy missed last week’s loss to the Lions in Johannesburg but comes into the front row replacing Montoya while Guido Petti replaces Matias Alemanno.

In the second row Juan Manuel Leguizamón take the place of Javier Ortega Desio. In the backs Segundo Tuculet will make his debut at centre and an injury to Lucas González Amorosino (who has already returned home) sees Matías Orlando start on the wing.

The Bookies have given the Kings a 20 point start for this Match – with an offer of up to $200 in Bonus bets. The end of the season can’t come soon enough for the Southern Kings. The Jaguares should win this by 18 or more.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ (Sky), Aus (Fox Sports), SA (SuperSport) and in the UK on Sky Sports 5/HD.
