The Sharks have been boosted ahead of Friday night’s Currie Cup  clash against the Cheetahs with the return of Springbok Ryan Kankowski and the non-suspension of scrumhalf Rory Kockott.

Kankowski has been released from the Bok squad and replaces Keegan Daniel in the No 8 berth, while Kockott was found not guilty at a disciplinary hearing for foul play, which was concluded on Wednesday morning, and will continue at scrumhalf.

However, there are injury concerns surrounding Odwa Ndungane, Michael Rhodes and Deon Carstens, and aall three players have been bracketed in the match-day 22.

If Ndungane fails to recover in time Luzuko Vulindlu will take his place, if Rhodes is unavailable he will be replaced by Nikolai Blignaut, and if Carstens can’t make the trip Pat Cilliers will play at loosehead prop with promising Wiehahn Herbst starting at tighthead.

Guy Cronje is back from his one week suspension and will start at flyhalf, with Argentinian Juan Martin Hernandez not considered this week despite arriving in Durban at the weekend.

Hernandez has been given time to settle in and work on his conditioning after a long absence from rugby.
